CSV Maker: Create a CSV File Online
This CSV maker lets you create a CSV file online without opening Excel or writing code. Choose how many rows and columns you need, type into a spreadsheet-style grid, and download a .csv file. Everything runs in your browser, so the data you type is not uploaded to a server.
It works as a CSV creator for new files and as a table to CSV converter for data you already have in Markdown, JSON, HTML, YAML, or Excel.
What Is a CSV File?
CSV (comma-separated values) is plain text: each line is one record, and fields are separated by commas. The common conventions are written down in RFC 4180:
- The first line can be a header row with column names
- A field that contains a comma, a double quote, or a line break is enclosed in double quotes
- A double quote inside a quoted field is escaped by doubling it (
"")
Because it is plain text, a CSV file opens in Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice, most databases, and almost every programming language. Microsoft documents how Excel opens and imports CSV files in Import or export text (.txt or .csv) files.
What You Can Do Here
- Create a CSV file from scratch: generate an empty grid (up to 100 rows × 26 columns at a time), rename the headers, and fill in the cells
- Make a CSV from existing data: paste a Markdown, JSON, HTML, or YAML table, or upload
.xlsx/.xls, and get CSV output - View a CSV as a table: paste CSV text and check every row in the table editor before you download
- Clean up the data: sort, transpose, remove empty rows and columns, deduplicate rows, change case, and find & replace (regex supported)
- Match the app you import into: comma, semicolon, tab, or pipe delimiter; quote every field; optional UTF-8 BOM for Excel
Common Uses
- Import templates for CRMs, online stores, mailing tools, and other apps that ask for a CSV upload
- Small test datasets for scripts, data pipelines, and spreadsheet formulas
- Quick lists such as contacts, inventory, or translation strings that you need to share as a file
